George Franklin’s poems come from a deep understanding of human condition and beauty. Just like Tolstoi ’s short story where Jesus finds that even a dead dog can have teeth as white as pearls, George enlightens us with images of crows, moles, flies or spiders. There is also a soothing element in his writing even in moments of despair that bind an ancient Chinese poet to a woman whose child cannot accept the terrible effects of old age.Among the Ruins/Entre las ruinas depicts a world that sometimes seems in the verge of collapse but that redeems itself under the readers’ eyes, when we allow poetry speak for itself.
